What is Organic Silk?

2024.07.18

                                                    What is Organic Silk?

Organic silk is a luxurious, eco-friendly fabric derived from silkworms that feed on mulberry leaves. Here’s what makes silk organic:

Natural Soil: The mulberry trees, which provide food for the silkworms, must be grown in natural, unpolluted soil. This soil cannot be contaminated with artificial fertilizers or chemicals.

Clean Air and Environment: The air and environment where the mulberry trees are grown must be free from pollution. Areas with high levels of PM2.5, such as urban regions, are unsuitable for cultivating organic mulberry trees.

Organic Farming Practices: During the cultivation of mulberry trees, only organic fertilizers are used. Chemical fertilizers and pesticides are strictly prohibited to ensure the trees remain natural and organic.

Silkworms fed on leaves from such organically grown mulberry trees produce silk that meets organic standards. In this pristine environment, the silkworms are healthier and plumper, resulting in longer, more lustrous silk threads.
